Text, sound, printmaking

The idea for the work came from an experience. On different occasions I stood by the river and just stood there. Listening. I heard what I’m describing in the text of the work, cars, people, wind. But also something more, beyond that. All the pain of the world. I thought about how plants communicate, sending warning signals to each other, how all of nature is connected and that we, humans, are a part of that. How war, forest fires, toxins, cries are affecting all of us. Like an echo past fictitious borders for all of us to hear. (To do something.) The sound is recorded outside, next to the river in Umeå, days and nights. The text: Sound of the river the wind footsteps and voices something hitting a wall wild birds wild insects dull rumble of wild machines movements turning into a mass of noise How twigs like antennas burst out intertwined roots, a signal through decentralized bodies it sounds of chemical warnings echoing world crie here Pulsing in earth by wind past fictitious deceptive borders Do you hear the rumble hidden howl in the mass to be seen to be heard warning call The sound pierces, permeate everything, infuse everything silent overwhelming signal signal
