Falling asleep, 2024

60 x 120 cm
€2700

A three-dimensional sculptural object. Mixed materials in the author’s technique. Kiln casted, polished, glued glass, mosaic technique and mixed materials: extruded polystyrene, foam rubber, fabric. The artwork is based on the author’s personal experience of insomnia and sleepiness. The sculpture “Falling asleep” is an attempt to explain and visualize the process of falling asleep. Nowadays drowsiness and insomnia are common and perhaps that is the reason why it is considered as being normal. Drowsiness has negative effects on people’s well-being. A sleepy person evaluates the quality of his life poorly, moreover he constantly feels tired and therefore cannot fully use his potential. The author wants to show the pleasant process of falling asleep – a person sits does /lies down on a soft sofa/bed, he feels comfortable, a long working day is over, fatigue sets in, the body feels relaxed and the person falls asleep.
