Peräkylä studied the materiality related to farming and rural living, and the changing compositions that man and nature, oblivion and time have built together. She was interested in wobbly stacks, mixed accumulations, random neighbourhoods and repairs made in a hurry. The project is based on Peräkylä´s family farm in Valkeala Finland. The work began with blue disposable protective slippers that guests wore at an open event organized on the farm. The slippers led her to think about our contact with the land and matter. She created proposals, questions about defining a place. As the work progressed, Peräkylä became increasingly interested in the role of oil and its significance in the global fragmentation of labor, materials and our sense of belonging.
