Baltic-Gdynia-Modernism.2, 2018

12.8 x 17.9 cm

Black and blue ink on watercolour paper

The printmaking shows the abstract office building, neutral in it’s form, that corresponds to a Polish pre-war modernist architecture. The colours of the composition correspond to the Estonian flag, which makes a link between the totally new Polish city and seaport of Gdynia (so-called ‘The City form the Sea’), which was established in the need of the newly gained independence by the Republic of Poland – and the country of Estonia, which cristallised after the I WW, and the history of which is still in front of us for insights. One thing admittedly in common between both the by-the-Baltic-Sea-city-of-Gdynia and Estonia is their 100 years of existence.
