Marabouparken konsthall presents contemporary art which reflects the human’s conditions in today’s society and in history. Since 2019 the institution has a new strategic focus on the park as an area of negotiation between nature and the human. The exhibition program is based in today’s need for questioning traditional views on the human’s relation to her surrounding world, in the light of the increasingly urgent questions about our climate and a sustainable use of resources.
A park is an image of our ideas about nature and culture, but also a hands-on arena for collaboration between nature and human. Our park is a unique feature for Marabouparken konsthall as an art institution and its presence is central to our activities.
Marabouparken konsthall is run by Stiftelsen Parken, a foundation which started its activities in 2005. Since 2010, the art gallery is located in architect Arthur von Schmalensee’s former cocoa laboratory in Marabou Park. The award-winning park was developed in the 1940s and 1950s on the Bällsta River in Sundbyberg as a visionary landscaped recreational facility for the employees of the Marabou chocolate factory.
Marabouparken is supported by the City of Sundbyberg, Region Stockholm and the Swedish Arts Council.
