The exhibition has works from 1993-2023, but still shines a spotlight on new works on paper. It conveys Gullvåg's figurative expression, where he has also recently experimented with more formal elements in a mixture of abstraction and figuration, better known as Gullvåg's signature expression. Furthermore, Gullvåg works a lot with composition and creates strong motif references to the present, either through a direct reflection on specific experiences and events or in images with references to his own memories and childhood, where the works are more dreamlike and take on a more surreal expression.
The exhibition Works on paper revolves around a number of animal motifs. The primeval fish , the calf , the horse , the falcon , but also the boy on a chair and equestrian motifs are conveyed in both pastel on paper and as color lithographs, mainly printed in Copenhagen and at the Oslo Academy of Arts (KHiO). In addition to pastels and lithographs, watercolours, charcoal drawings, etchings and oil on paper are also shown.
