The historical perspective is also important when you want to discuss the future and ask questions about the future. And even history’s long-term change processes can contribute to defining the problems and challenges of the future.
In our recent exhibition “Wake up – on the lookout for the future” there are works of art in different techniques and materials. What they have in common is that they more or less shed light on current issues and problems. All works are from the museum’s art collection, where the emphasis is on Swedish art from the 1940s onwards.
Some of the artworks in the exhibition can be divided into the following themes: conflict, war, terrorism, power, anarchy and anti-fascism. Other artworks in the exhibition can be divided under identity and future food and housing. Violence against women, feminism and #metoo are three other themes that some of the artworks can be divided into.
