At the same time, Priks leaves it up to each viewer to decide exactly what they perceive and interpret in the works. “The world isn’t black and white; it can be a surreal, pleasantly confusing profusion of all things absurd and seemingly unrelated. For me, everything merges into one vast, shifting hallucination in time and space—the very hallucination I inhabit,” says Priks. Through his mixed-media paintings, the artist hopes to create a colourful, smile-inducing explosion at every black background—both in the images and in real life.
The exhibition is curated by Roland Seer.
Kristjan Priks graduated from the Sculpture Department at Pallas University of Applied Sciences in 2012 and works as a freelance artist. He has participated in the “Lend 2012” graduation exhibition and a mural creation team, and has also worked on creating wooden sculptures. The “Visions” exhibition marks the artist’s first solo show.
