Tiina Tiitus is primarily known as a fashion designer who has created suits and dresses for the Independence Day Presidential Receptions. For years, she was collaborating with Estonian company Sangar in Tartu and Danish company Roberto, designing men’s clothing: shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and trousers. Most of the security guards’ clothing in Estonia the 1990s and 2000s were designed by Tiina. She has dabbled in interior design and has been the creative director of the shopping centre Tallinna Kaubamaja for many years. Tiina is the author of three popular books: “A Happy Relationship”, “Hidden Secrets of Love”, and “Love of the Life. Ruminations on Possibility of Eternal Love”. Tiina is an esteemed counsellor and author, and a sought-after lector and columnist.
Although drawing was put on hold for 30 years, it has remained a great passion and secret dream of Tiina’s. The first step on the road to fulfil the dream was completing a Book Illustration course at the Estonian Art Academy in 2021. Some drawings from the final course work “Face of a Dream” can be seen at the exhibition at Haki gallery as well. For the last couple of years, Tiina has further developed her skills on Aapo Pukk’s painting course, Allan Kukk’s Impulsive Drawing course at EKA Open Academy, and Madli Lavin’s Illustrative Portrait course.
The biggest inspiration and impulse for this solo exhibition came from attending the Drink and Draw croquis evenings. The exhibition comprises a selection of works from the last nine months. Tiina’s first drawing after the 30-year hiatus, a nude croquis of Pablo drawn on 20.09.22, is also displayed.
According to the artist, a door to a wonderful world that had remained closed for too long, has opened again for her with this exhibition.
