It all started with an archive in a basement room. A real-life Archive X that became the starting point for this year’s big Swedish adventure film. The UFO archive – or Archives for the Unexplained (AFU), as it is actually called – was founded in Södertälje in 1973 and moved to Norrköping in 1979. Today, the archive collects around 75,000 reports on UFO sightings from all corners of the world.
The new exhibition at Arbetets museum is created in collaboration with Archives for the Unexplained and the film collective Crazy Pictures in Norrköping. Crazy Pictures is behind the attention-grabbing blockbuster UFO Sweden , which was inspired by the archive and had its Swedish premiere at Christmas.
Just as in UFO Sweden, Norrköping plays an important role in the exhibition. Here you can explore UFO sightings from the area and take a closer look at props and deleted scenes from the film. You get to know the people behind the archive and learn more about how the work of critically reviewing UFO reports is done. All interspersed with a large dose of both nostalgia and mystery.
