In this exhibition, you can see watercolor paintings that reflect the solitary nature of art creation. For Mro, paintings are like beings that exude the presence of loneliness. Creating art is a way for Mro to explore different mental states and the spectrum of emotions that exist within humans. “I have experimented with many different color combinations that I haven’t used before, so this is a good progression of creating from discomfort,” Mro introduces his new works from his own perceptual perspective.
Tomasz Mro mainly uses watercolors and digital processing tools in his work, but he also masters other techniques such as gouache, graphite, and ink. For the works in this exhibition, metallic paints and sculptable clay have been used for the first time. Unlike previous works, almost all watercolor paintings have been done with more water, creating a greater sense of fluidity in the new paintings.
Tomasz’s work is heavily influenced by fashion illustration and graphic design and stands out for its skillful and almost luminous use of color. His main theme is portraits that explore different emotions. This is Tomasz Mro’s second exhibition in Estonia and at the Victoria Olt Gallery. Gallery owner Victoria Olt believes that Tomasz Mro represents a new generation of artists who have abandoned traditional art school and learned independently, using many internet resources. “He has already acquired more technical skills compared to some art school graduates, and considering his age and his dedication to art, I think he has a long and successful career ahead of him,” says Olt.
