Pallas University of Applied Sciences' media design department invites you to discover a joint exhibition "Threshold”. This exhibition brings to our viewers the collaborative creation of students, teachers and graduates from all walks of life. Each piece reflects the artist’s own world, giving viewers a chance to peek over the threshold that draws the line between two worlds – reality and the inner machinations of the artist. It is a faint threshold that separates the author and the viewer, the idea and its manifestation in the real world, in the very room in front of you.
Threshold represents a line, a border, and a transition. A threshold can be a doorway between the world inside and the cold outside that is reality. It’s an area where the artist and the art viewer meet. Through art, you can express something that words can’t. A threshold is the point, a goal post, a border that once crossed allows your ideas, feelings, and identity to visualize themselves. “In art, we often seek ourselves—something that touches and reflects us. In the exhibition “Threshold”, the audience is not merely an observer but also a companion on the journey. Stepping over the gallery threshold opens a world where artists share their most sincere and profound creations,” say the authors.
For exhibition “Threshold”, each author has chosen artworks from their private collections that are closest to their souls and opens up a piece of their being. You can see digital, audio and typographical art, along with paintings, graphics and video creations that vary in their format. All of this is bound together in one conceptual whole. The viewer can experience how an art piece creates a bridge between them and the artist. Can the reflections found in art help you better understand yourself and others around you? The answer lies in the halls of the exhibition.
Before the opening of the exhibition, we have interactive events that invite you to become a part of art before setting foot inside the gallery space.
18th of March at 17.30 – a performance in Tartu city center during which the artists create an interactive 3- colored piece on the go while gaining inspiration from their surroundings. Viewers are invited to participate in this creative process that helps to bring you closer to the “threshold” between the two worlds.
19th of March at 20.00 – a live art sketching session at Genialistide Club. It’s an open and cozy sketching event where everyone is welcome!
During the exhibition, two interactive events will take place, and we invite all interested visitors to the gallery. Details of the events are published in social media.
