Zane Shumeiko, who has lived and worked in Estonia for almost 10 years, graduated from the textile art department of the Latvian Academy of Arts. She also studied and worked in Italy. In 2022, she obtained a master’s degree in the design department of the Estonian Academy of Arts, specializing in experimental free-motion embroidery. She interprets and experiments with this technique, constantly seeking new forms and ways of expression.
Shumeiko has participated in art residencies, projects, and exhibitions in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, England, Finland, Italy, and elsewhere. Since 2023, she has been a member of the Latvian Textile Art Association, as well as a member of the Estonian Textile Artists Association (ETAA) and the European Textile Network (ETN).
During her time in Italy, a three-month internship at the Prada fashion house left a lasting impression on her. Later, she worked at the historic Ratti textile company in Como, focusing on colors, fabric design, silk threads, and more. In her spare time, she draws and paints Italian landscapes, collecting various impressions of the cultural environment, language, and people she meets.
