“The exhibition featuring Latvian artist Marta Gotlība will open at Kunstiruum in the T1 Center on Thursday. On November 2nd, at 5:00 p.m., Kunstiruum gallery will unveil Gotlība’s personal exhibition titled ‘Flight.’
The exhibition will showcase over twenty of Marta Gotlība’s works, predominantly focused on nature and bird themes. Gotlība, a passionate bird watcher and advocate for the hobby, is an active member of the Latvian Ornithological Society. While her earlier works were created using colored pencils, she has recently embraced oil paints. Gotlība shared, ‘I enjoy illustrating various birds, and I hope my art will help people better understand the birds around them.’
Born in 1982 in Riga, Gotlība discovered her passion for drawing at a young age. She graduated from the clothing design department of the Riga School of Design and Art in 2004 and further honed her skills under the guidance of esteemed Latvian artists, including Ieva Kampe-Krumholca, Kristine Kligina, and Anita Arbidane.
After a hiatus from art due to personal reasons, Gotlība resumed her artistic journey in 2016. Despite her widespread recognition in Estonia, this exhibition marks her first solo showcase in the country.
Kunstiruum, situated on the second floor of the T1 Center, serves as a sales gallery featuring both permanent and personal exhibitions. The gallery proudly displays over 300 works from nearly 50 Baltic artists, including renowned Estonian artists such as Heiki Ernits, Laurentsius, Toomas Kuusing, Vilen Künnapu, Arne Maasik, Jüri Mildeberg, Naima Neidre, Vive Tolli, Marju Üksine, and Santa Zukker, among others.”
