The first thing that strikes your eye about garages is that they usually don't have windows. A garage and a car are like hand in glove. A car has windows, which lead to a 360-degree panoramic view. Also, the sights from the windows can be static as well as moving. A car is mobile and you can always see something new from the windows. Again and again, a new scene or sight is shown.
That is the basis which has now grown into the idea to exhibit views from the windows of a moving or a resting car, in a garage gallery. The exhibition can also be seen as an act of spatial compensation for the gallery, because what's a garage without a car, what's a car without windows? A garage is incomplete without a car and also the views from its windows.
A car is a fortress, from which you can observe this and that from a safe and comfortable distance. At the same time, the act of looking out is very cinematic, because of the changing scenes from a moving car. Car window views allow one to think about and reflect on time and being, which makes it an excellent form of therapy for agony and pain, which heal with time and moving forward. While the world is changing, I'm in a car, still, and witnessing it without intervening.
