As part of the course “Composition and Colour Theory”, taught by Imbi Kruuv, students from four different departments independently completed a creative assignment entitled “Book”. The starting point was defined by a set of guidelines: the finished work had to include an opening or cut-out offering different viewpoints, a tactile or foldable element, a variety of materials, and follow a prescribed format. The book’s concept had to reflect either the course programme, a specific assignment, or the completed creative work. This is how the course’s learning outcomes came to be spiral-bound.
The books created by Pallas first-year students were transformed into an exhibition dedicated to the Year of the Estonian Book under the artistic direction of lecturer Imbi Kruuv and designer Madis Liplap.
“This delightful exhibition has spread itself out in several different locations. It was first displayed at Pallas UAS during the assessment period in January, then at the Pallas library, followed by the Lääne County Central Library in April and the Pärnu Central Library for a month in May. And now it is back in Tartu!” says Imbi Kruuv, describing the exhibition’s journey.
