The artists Roza Moshtaghi and Ronak Moshtaghi have transformed the exhibition hall into a landscape in black and white, where darkness is a source of mystery, magic and creative power. A glazed fountain sprays black paint into the room, pumping up dark stories, memories and ghosts.
The walls of the room are magnetic and covered in shapes. Some of these are taken from Edvard Munch’s pictures. As you move them around, they turn into new images, stories and patterns. With each visit, you can pick up where someone else left off and leave your own fantasies and messages. The fountain is like a portal between past and present; a ghostly legacy from those who came before to you who stand here now.
The sisters Roza (b. 1985) and Ronak Moshtaghi (b. 1987) were born in Tehran and currently live in Oslo and Berlin respectively. Roza is a trained choreographer, and works with dance and extended choreographic thinking. Ronak is a trained visual artist, and works at the intersection between drawing, sculpture and installation art. The duo collaborate regularly and continuously influence each other’s work.
