As starting points for his works, Simon Patterson uses maps, diagrams, lists and instruction manuals, which aid us as we try to manage and structure an increasingly complex world.
In his insightful and often humorous works, Simon Patterson (1967) directs us to reflect on how and why we assume that what we know about the world is what we know. Typically, Patterson brings together surprisingly compatible types of information. An example of this is a text work based on a football team system, in which the players are named after the Apostles with Jesus as the goalkeeper.
Simon Patterson lives and works in London. He has held solo exhibitions and participated in joint exhibitions in various European countries, the United States and Asia. In 2014, he contributed two works to the Gösta Pavilion opening exhibition, SuperPop! The exhibition is curated by Timo Valjakka.
