THE SIMPLE BEAUTY OF EVERYDAY LIFE
Senay Berhe has had a long artistic journey that took off in his hometown of Stockholm. Self-taught, he has created an extensive body of work that includes music videos, digital campaigns, films and documentaries. Now he develops his creative repertoire to also include photography and art. Senay Berhe’s work often captures the simple beauty of everyday situations and has received international attention through exhibitions and screenings at galleries, film festivals and academic institutions around the world . Now he is exhibiting at Fotografiska Stockholm as the next photographer within the Emerging Artists initiative, where Sweden-based photographers with a visionary eye and a career on the rise are given space to show their art.
– My goal with the exhibition is for the viewer to be able to identify with the images and feelings. I hope that the images convey a presence and can make the viewer travel to the moment when the images were taken or that it evokes a thought or feeling, says Senay Berhe .

OUR EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL LANDSCAPES
Senay Berhe’s artistry is rooted in the complex interplay between our external and internal landscapes. In the new exhibition A Familiar Feeling of Now, he seeks not only to explore, but also to break, the boundaries surrounding our relationship with the natural world. Many of the works originate in simple settings, on the way to or from the most private of all places – the home. By using materials such as textiles, wallpaper, frames, film and sculptures, objects are transformed into works of art that illuminate the everyday in a completely unique way.
– It is very exciting to have Senay as the third artist within the Emerging Artists initiative, his work is a breath of fresh creativity. Senay takes his unique look at everyday life and transforms it into works of art that really touch and inspire, says Mohamed Mire, exhibition producer at Fotografiska Stockholm.
Fotografiska Stockholm’s initiative Emerging Artists aims to provide a platform for photographers who use a unique visual language to show off their everyday life. The goal of Emerging Artists is to create a more local and inspiring art scene. The exhibition A Familiar Feeling of Now is on display from 17 November to 10 March.
