The drawings depict situations where something has happened or something will happen. Everyday objects or situations become dreamlike when the object’s surroundings have been removed or elements have been added. The everyday life transferred to the cut paper appeals to the viewer in different ways. By being aware of your surroundings, you can notice what is interesting there or what is missing there. Reinikainen encourages to look at everyday life with new eyes and to experience everyday life with curiosity instead of routine.
Saara Reinikainen (b. 1993, Kuopio) graduated from Imatra at Saimaa University of Applied Sciences as a visual artist in 2019. In the same year, she joined the South Karelia Artists’ Society and is a deputy member of its board since 2023. Today, she lives and works in Lappeenranta. For him, the everyday theme is a long-term and constantly developing process.
