On April 2nd at 6:00 PM, Riho Kall's solo exhibition “PõlvaStyle” will open at Jakobi Gallery. The exhibition will remain open until April 24th.
Riho Kall’s solo exhibition “PõlvaStyle” presents a selection of the author’s experimental prints and works in other techniques from different creative periods. The title of the exhibition refers to the main theme that could connect the presented work throughout. This is the emptying and marginalized city of Põlva in Southern Estonia, along with the surrounding areas and phenomena from which the author comes. In the context of the works in the exhibition, Elva, excuse me, Põlva functions as a physical and also a spiritual, mental space within us. Moments of comparison and questions about local motifs or specificities arise. In the exhibition context Põlva can be characterized as a slightly dreamy area on the edge of the world, where we encounter absurd dreams of enjoying life against the backdrop of pastoral landscapes.
Riho Kall (b. 1986) has obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Estonian Academy of Arts and works as a teacher at the Tartu Children’s Art School. In recent years, the artist has devoted his creative work to sound art. He has released various types of sound carriers both independently and in collaboration, participated as an artist and organizer in experimental music concerts and other events. From time to time, he has also performed at exhibitions with graphic works.
The exhibition at the Jakobi Gallery of the Tartu Children’s Art School (Jakobi 52) is open from March 31 to April 24, Tue-Fri 13-18. The exhibition is closed during the school holidays from April 13-17.
