Please note that Re-treat will exceptionally be held behind closed doors and participants will be admitted by appointment. Maija Mustonen in collaboration with Anna Maria Häkkinen, Hanna Ahti, Helena Pulkkinen, Masi Tiitta and Sofia Palillo. We devote a moment for soft touch and sensing gravity. We listen to an enchanting song. We also aim to touch with scents. Our perfume smells of tuberosa and white flowers: gardenia, lily of the valley and jasmine flower. We give each other support in our resting. Re-treat is a performance about caring touch for one participant at the time. The participant can surrender to receiving touch. The duration of one session is about an hour. Matters of consent are negotiated with each participant at the beginning of the session. We will take care of everyone’s safety. You can ask for an appointment by email retreat.maija@gmail.com.

Re-treat emerges from the period of the pandemic isolation and from the sensibilities brought by distance. The piece is a part in a series of collaborative works convened by Maija Mustonen which focus on touch and care. The previous works in the series are Treat (2021) and Hoitoja [Treatments] (2015–2018).
The performers Anna Maria Häkkinen, Hanna Ahti and Maija Mustonen encounter the participants in Titanik Gallery. The working group includes lighting designer and scenographer Sofia Palillo, scent dramaturg Masi Tiitta, and sound artist Helena Pulkkinen.
The event takes place according to the prevailing covid restrictions.
