Raul Meel “Love Spells”

While a large part of Raul Meel’s oeuvre is based on text-images and is extremely systematic, intellectual, and calculated down to the finest details both visually and conceptually, “Love Spells” has been born intuitively or, relying on the author, one could say revelationally. During the last year Meel has dealt extensively with archetypal forms and “Love Spells” is an abstract output of archetypal forms. Both the line and the colouring refer to one of humanity’s greatest energetic forces that occurs in nature, and that, in Meel’s treatment, is the Freudian life drive.
