RAIJA KORPPILA: Oasis

In addition to the landscape, my gaze is drawn to the small details of nature. Since the different elements of nature together with the landscape are equal, in the visual composition of the works they can change places, a small detail becomes larger than the experienced landscape.

The works in the exhibition have been created using the photogravure technique of fine art printing. The soft imprint of the technique beautifully reproduces shades from light to dark velvety surfaces. I draw and paint the motifs on films, which are exposed to UV light on a photosensitive plate. The works are printed by hand using traditional intaglio printing.
