Portraits from all eras are displayed in the main hall. Starting in Renaissance England and Holland, we are moved to the last hundred years and our present day. Through the artists’ works, the viewer can take part in how the art of portraiture changes over time
Åke Göransson, Olle Skagerfors, Isak Grunewald, Ivan Ivarsson, Evert Lundquist, Jockum Nordström pass the review and then make way for the women Channa Bankier, Sara-Vide Ericson, Marie-Louise Ekman, Mamma Andersson, Märta König and Eva Jacobson.
Also the young people from recent years’ exhibitions at Konstfack and Kungl. The art college is there as well as some of the street artists. And of course some international names such as Gutai artist Sadaharu Horio, Japan and Pure Evil from England.
Depicting the human personal or universal in man in the form of portraits has always fascinated us. From being seen as an almost magical act to being the artist’s calibration of the instrument, there is still something certain about capturing someone’s facial features. From past to present, we have collected portraits that in this meeting may happen for new conversations.
