The exhibition features a third-generation Estonian painter’s last years creation. Karl-Kristjan Nagel is an artist who began his Art Academy studies during the second wave of the new expressionism painting of the mid-1990-es. Since then, over 25 years, Nagel has presented his works following his grandfathers and fathers painting studies through practice of impressionism landscape painting, clear colour usage and metaphysical sense of composition.

Many Nagel’s painting series document the philosophy and authors on the field of practical connections between health and mind; present geopolitical world conflicts as well as selected examples of world culture, movies and music. Over the years his abstract and aggressive painting style has alternated with more realistic and figurative ones.
In the times of global deceit and wars, questions of personal freedom become inevitable. How to remain free in the face of imposing ideologies and fraud ? Should we agree with the “winning side” or be against and let not others make the decisions for us. All these paintings at this exhibition can be seen in light of that spiritual freedom mentality.
