The two years that have passed since that evening have included three different art studios, a new living space, around twenty visited cities, numerous exhibitions and endless conversations full of tenderness, pain and bliss. Words and thoughts filled the days with new discoveries and love – within the self, but also in a wider sense, eventually touching everything around. Little by little, the inner walls started to crumble and from between the cracks whole new worlds started to reveal themselves, each with their own unique beliefs, knowledge and interests. Although harsh and confusing at times, they were also deeply moving, freeing and undeniably true.
All of the above created a rich ground for the creation of nearly 70 new paintings, of which a selected part also forms the core of the exhibition presented here. In addition to that, a few works from earlier years were added, to indicate the importance of roots and continuity in the spiral of change and growth.
Paul Kormašov (35) is an Estonian painter who is living and working in Berlin. Throughout the years his main style of work has been colourful abstractionism, which in recent years has become increasingly figurative – adding elements such as portraits, (urban) landscapes and other depictions of nature and life in the city.
Kormašov has graduated from the Pallas University of Applied Sciences (Tartu, 2013) and has been living in Berlin for ten years. The current exhibition is his 13th solo show; he also regularly participates in group shows and auctions. His works are represented in multiple private collections, in addition to his native Estonia also in Germany, Sweden, Italy, the United States and Canada to name a few.
