Charlotte Bjørlig works primarily in oil and mixed media, and is inspired and fascinated by the raw, beautiful nature. Jørgen Nordskov turns his unique works in many different types of wood, and often mixes the raw and unpolished with the polished and natural.
Malerier og trædrejning
Charlotte Bjørlig herself says: “The paintings are both stories about man, nature and human nature. My paintings must speak to the senses and the imagination, and must preferably be ambiguous. When a painting stands and vibrates in that way, where I myself become curious, then I know that now it is exactly where it needs to be. And then it can fly out into the world. I work primarily in oil and mixed media. I am inspired and fascinated by the raw, beautiful and sometimes unruly nature – not at least in Iceland, where a trip in 2020 set a lot in motion. In addition, my many trips to Tuscany also leave an impression on my pictures – especially in the choice of colors and the rustic structures and the traces of time. You can keep exploring in a good picture, this is also how I hope my paintings are experienced!
Jørgen Nordskov himself says about his unique works: “I always go around with some shapes and projects in the back of my mind, but it can never be done until I have the perfect wood for that particular project. So the perfect wood and my thoughts must then work together about a shape. The shape then becomes more clear as the work on the lathe progresses. Very often it is the special expression of the wood that makes me make the exact shape that the wood is suitable for. Fortunately, developments in wood turning have progressed for many different directions. I like to mix the raw and unpolished with the polished and natural. The most important thing, however, is the signals the wood emits when you stand with a new/old (mossy oak) piece of large or small wood.”.
