“My interest in bromoil technique began about 40 years ago when Peeter Tooming exhibited Estonian’s most outstanding photographer who worked with picturesque photos at that time, Johannes Mülber, in Tartu Art Museum. I remember how I was fascinated with the images’ beauty, etherealness and their exceptional quality which reminded me of engravings. I just had to find out how all of this was achived.”
Ove Maidla is one of the few artists in Estonia who has dedicated himself to music and also art. For the last 30 years, on top of playing in different bands, he has also been working with different photo and printing techniques. More specifically, bromoil print, photogravures, photopolymer gravures and linocut.
The biggest personal exhibition of Maidla with captured moments from South-Estonia and different printing techniques can be seen in Vana-Võromaa Art Gallery. A special booklet will be put together for this exhibition.
Exhibition will be open until the 22nd of November.
