You get back into the mood. A few steps up the stone stairs. Possible wind in the face. You know from the sound of the door closing that the space is reverberating. Do you see any familiar faces? There’s music here. A moving picture and you can think of a figure curled up by a campfire. You go back to the beginning and quickly come back to the moment when the bass pattern is most effective. Like a wave and a sea, the churning of which you can barely hear through the drinking game of your rowdy friends inside.

In this exhibition, someone always reminds you of the point that you can visualize at first. To begin with. Get excited about the possibility of the beginning. Rename everything.

Time machine. Sensing possible mistakes next to the mistakes made. Mixing the flavors of salt, pepper and toothpaste in a dizzying carousel movement. For this, it’s better to just pass out and start over. The imagined understanding gaze of friends helps to grope the space.

Olli Keränen’s exhibition features new sculptures and a video work. The working group for the video work includes dancer-choreographer Mira Kautto, Sakari Luhtala responsible for filming and editing, and Jaakko Kestilä, who created the sound world and music for the work. Special thanks to Maija, Aina, Jake, Sakari L, Sakari T, Jaako, Mira, Emilia, Niina, Saul, Miko, Essi and Elina.

Olli Keränen(b. 1979) works mainly with the means of sculpture and moving image, building spatial entities from his works. In his works, he explores, among other things, the necessity of hand skills in relation to advanced production processes by working with materials that are often unbalanced in nature. The works that draw on archetypal forms create a dialogue where the original references of the works remain in a secondary position. Keränen has had solo exhibitions in Helsinki and Copenhagen. The most recent of these was at the SIC gallery in Helsinki in 2021. In addition, his works have been exhibited in group exhibitions at, among others, HAM, Malmö taidehalli, Karst (Plymouth).
