What does art feel like? How does the artwork change when looking at it from a different angle? What feelings or movement does the art provoke in the viewer’s body? Does the artwork make you quiver and give you goose-bumps? Does it make you feel relaxed and calm? Are you moved? Does the experience of art make you weak or nauseous, or does it make your heart beat faster like it did for the French author Stendhal in Florence a long time ago? Or does it simply not move you at all?
The Moving exhibition invites you to experience, experiment, wonder about and explore the feelings evoked by visual arts. The exhibition is largely based on being present in the same space as art and reminds that not all dimensions of art can be repeated virtually or on a computer screen.
The exhibition mainly consists of works by more than twenty artists from the Turku City Art Collection, and also includes works acquired for the art collection in recent years that have not previously been displayed in WAM. Visitors get a chance to admire installations, sculptures, media art and paintings, among other art forms. In addi-tion, to support the exhibition, interactive media art works from Artturi Elovirta and Hanna Haaslahti have been requested for loan.
