Christian Koivumaa is a full-time artist with roots in Tornedalen. Since 2002 he has lived in Katrineholm where he has his studio. Watercolor is the main technique in the atmospheric works, which are characterized by fast brushstrokes and razor-sharp details. The inspiration often comes from the everyday where Christian loves to make his own interpretations. During the exhibition at Galleri Fiskhuset, visitors will be invited to a wide world of motifs of landscapes and urban motifs from different seasons. Through Christian’s eyes and interpretations, we visit different places in our long country.
The creative process usually begins with photography in environments where Christian looks for compositions and moods that can then be recreated in watercolour. Most often, several photographs are used as a reference in the creation of a painting. In his studio, he continues the process of sketching, test painting and experimenting in smaller formats to finally begin the creation of the artwork.
Christian has an art teacher’s degree from HDK in Gothenburg.
