Marge Nelk is a recognized illustrator. Her multi-layered digital compositions fascinate both children and adults. In the R gallery, located in the Karud ja Pojad studio store, there is a selection of illustrations that have been designed for adult books.
Marge Nelk has been a big book lover since she was a child: “For me, in addition to the text, pictures in books have always had a very important place. Although I am no longer a child, I still like book illustrations, especially in the “grown up” books. Pictures in adult books can seem like excessive luxury, but they add a lot to the book and allow creative people, writers and artists, who are otherwise rather lone wolves, to collaborate. I have had the pleasure of being a part of the materialization of several books. With my exhibition, I would like to promote this topic and encourage adult readers to publish more books with pictures.”
The illustrations in the exhibition come from the following books: Mario Pulver “The Law of Persistence”
Piret Jaaks “Sirens”
Kristiina Ehin “Everyone has two thirsts”
Mehis Heinsaar “The deadly growth of dreams”, “At the wizards” and “The lost tribe”
Marge Nelk graduated from the Faculty of Religion at the University of Tartu and the Pallas University of Applied Sciences, majoring in photography. She currently works as a freelance artist and illustrator and lives in Tartu, Supilinn.
