The exhibition presents 2019 - in 2022 objects and paintings created by the artist during the period. The main idea of the works of art presented in the exhibition of Lukas Kolmogortsev is connected with personal experiences of the flow of time and temporality. With the help of installations, the artist tries to express temporality as a traumatic experience that is usually suppressed and controlled.
While beautifying and controlling the exhibition space, collecting and composing the forms of objects, their symbolic contents, the creator distinguishes three main themes - medicine, nature, man. This chain of main themes forced the artist to look for forms that visually evoke associations of traumatic experiences. In the compositions of the artist's works, healing and wounding elements can be clearly identified.
There are few coincidences in the exhibition – everything is built into one complicated image. In the exhibition, medical instruments become an integral, invisible, hard-to-understand part of the created objects, which is difficult to separate from the indivisible and integral phenomenon created by the artist. It seems to ask the question, how much do we enjoy causing pain (trauma) to others, to ourselves, and how much pain do we cause out of ignorance, our own ignorance?
L. Kolmogorcevs has completed painting studies at the Kaunas Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. The creator of contemporary art works on various artistic projects, participates in international exhibitions, is also an art educator, head of the visual arts studio “Creation Island”.
