The focus of this undertaking is focused on 3D printing of clay with the help of a collaborative robot in order to rethink and rethink the “pillar” of architecture – the long historical change of this supporting element can be observed in the built environment both directly in physical form and culturally in cooperation with the development of other disciplines and technologies. In a simplified form, it can be summed up as a problem of minimization and maximization – how is it possible in a situation where modern buildings require the existence of support structures with as little material consumption as possible and that can be easily manufactured, reach a symbiosis of ideas leading all involved disciplines to a new result in the overall solution of this element? The aim is to (re)discover the hidden potentials of the (partly forgotten) bearing system in a contemporary context through experimental ceramic posts and columns.
