Linn Fernström’s creation does not shy away from figuration and being filled with a teeming nature with insects and flowers. The focus of this magical and slightly surreal world is seeing and searching figures that recur in painting after painting.
Fernström’s painterly story is basically his own. In the human burdens there is the hint of relationships, of loss and of the search for a direction in the last. The slightly surreal and thoughtful move is consistent, as is the intricate shift between reality and fiction.
Painting is stubborn, persistent, and in the midst of it all there is a throbbing loneliness in this fact that we are all part of something larger that often seems completely incomprehensible. For Linn Fernström, it all seems to be about finding a human position, about escape and wonder, but also about comfort and desire among insects and birds, among faces and gestures.
And in the midst of all the storytelling there is also this obvious desire for painting itself, for the rhythms of color on the surface of the canvas, for color and form itself. Fernström’s goal is an alternating song between surface and depth.
The exhibition is shown in Liljevalchs+.
