“Andy Warhol’s Silver Flotations” was presented in the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York in 1966. The video is in dialogue with the exhibition “Untamed”, which is currently on display at the Tartu Art Museum. It assembles artists and works from the most anarchic period in the history of art of the once again independent Estonia. During this time, the old rules no longer applied and new ones did not yet exist. Although Warhol’s installation and Maas’s video, which were made more than five decades ago, are part of the treasury of the international art world and the untamed artists of the 1990s have become classics of Estonian art, questions about the nature and rules of art are still relevant today.
