We are talking about the war, refugees, price of electricity and the private lives of celebrities – has anything changed after all in this world? Recently there was another mass shooting in Europe where the shooter copied the ideas of former criminals behind mass shooting in his manifesto. We reuse everything without thinking about the aftermaths and wider context. Is there any hope that reuse will ever end? I don’t think so, and the future seems to be darker than it used to be.”
No to Reuse is the continuation of Lelov’s former exhibition Dreaming of Flying Cars. However, this time her jewellery have been filled with sadness. As human beings we step away from nature, and we cover, synthesize and disturb it for getting a short-term satisfaction. And this is taken place only to reproduce the amoral cycle that mercilessly drags us towards uncertainty and unpredictability. This conflict is also represented in Lelov’s jewellery, expressed by the material conflict between photopolymer, rubber and natural materials.
