Out of the darkness of the tunnel, we enter a desolate rocky landscape covered in fog. We find ourselves somewhere above the clouds where the birds float. A fused ceiling gives a glimpse into the unknown. The devastation of global warming is the stage of the birds’ struggle for survival. Laure Prouvost has created a boundless universe where we can jointly experience joy, love, and fear of terror and war.
Prouvost is known for its sensuous and immersive installations with film, sound, performance, sculpture, textile and text. She draws inspiration from several periods of art history – Dadaism, Surrealism and ancient art history – with objects such as caves and fountains. As a surrealist, Prouvost plays with the boundaries between fiction and reality.
Laure Prouvost has adopted the powerful format of the Light Hall and created a world of contrasts, conveyed with warmth and absurd humor. She influences our senses and emotions with gravity, light and color, and plays with our sense of orientation. Vibrant lights, sparkling imaginative glass sculptures and fountains bring light, colour and life to the endangered world.
