Arts’ exhibition “My home somewhere” examines the meaning of home from different perspectives. The themes of the works in the exhibition include emigration and refugeehood, family relationships, and home space and objects. The exhibition makes you think about what is meant by home and what factors make up a home. Is home always a concrete place, or could it also be a state of mind?
The exhibition is assembled mainly from the art collection of the city of Vantaa. In addition to the works in the collection, the theme of the exhibition is complemented by a few invited artists. The exhibition also features the artist selected as part of the “Finnish stories – Historical culture, art and changing citizenship” project, Ukrainian multimedia artist Spartak Khachanov. In Vantaa, public art also creates a sense of home and belonging. As part of the exhibition, works of public art chosen by the people of Vantaa themselves, which have brought memories and meanings to the lives of the townspeople, will be presented.
The exhibition is part of the 50th anniversary program of the city of Vantaa. The theme of the city’s jubilee year is “At Home in Vantaa”.
