Katta II Grüner was born in the seaside town of Haapsalu and now divides her time between Haapsalu and Tallinn. The sea has always been an essential part of her life – a source of peace, inspiration, freedom and a sense of openness.
For the artist, the sea is more than a landscape. It represents memory and the passing of time, connecting the past, present and future. At the same time, it serves as a reminder that the present moment is all we truly have.
The exhibition Inspired by the Sea explores the sea as both an endless source of inspiration and a quiet teacher. Through her works, Grüner invites viewers to slow down, notice the present and appreciate what exists here and now.
As the artist puts it: “It does not matter whether the sea has been moving for a thousand or three thousand years – all we have is this wave, this breath, this moment.”
