“All of us who share life on the surface of this huge stone body – the earth, we are all made up of the same chemical elements. We are made of the same matter. We all influence each other. Every morning when I arrive at the studio, I have a different mood, it comes from the weather, my mood, what I encountered on the way of people, news on the radio, reminders, time of year, letters read, the cyclical nature of the work process, deadlines for orders, eyes met on the way, air temperature, humidity in the workshop, etc. There are an endless number of these changing factors, yet whenever I draw the first line on the clean clay, I am saved again , I’m back in my safe world, in my element. I collect the remains of the glaze, so. chemical residues and I mix them into new wonderful surprising shades. I take the brush rinse water fertilized with chemicals outside so that the ground can absorb it again. I enjoy the process because this journey is wonderful.”/ Kärt Seppel
