The starting points of Kaisu Koivisto’s artistic practice are rooted in the notions of place, history and materials. Her exhibition From This World includes sculpture made of recycled materials and steel, and a drawing installation.
The present is an ever changing, uncertain world. The sculpture series Protectors is about dealing with unknown elements in everyday surroundings. The Structures of Histories is a drawing installation in which Kaisu Koivisto has used pages of Cambridge Biographical Dictionary, published in 1990. By drawing on the book pages she deconstructs and reconstructs the fragmented histories and meanings of the dictionary.
