Nature is the common object of interest and research of the artists and the unifying theme of the exhibition.
Ville von Martens has graduated as a visual artist from Kaarisilla’s vocational training in 2020. He works at Kaarisilla’s Art Studio, focusing on ceramics together with his mentor, visual arts instructor Johanna Immel.
Ville von Martens’ works are rich and colorful in terms of form. He immerses himself in working with clay holistically: there is joy in working, which is also conveyed in the works.
The themes of Johanna Immel’s works arise from the diversity of nature. He studies and creates shapes, textures and surfaces using ceramics. The process of making ceramics, different clay masses and glazes create their own essence for the works. The sculptures are abstract interpretations, but you can still find references to nature.
Natural is the third exhibition in Galleria Art Kaarisilla’s joint exhibition series, where artists who studied at Kaarisilla present together with their artist teacher. In the first exhibition organized in spring 2020, the public got to know the works of sculptor Pekka Syrjälä and his drawing students. In another exhibition held in the same year, the works of Mikael Valjaka and his graphic arts teacher Outi Kirvee were presented. The purpose of the exhibition series is not only to present art, but also to remind you of the opportunity offered by Kaarisilla to study fine art under the guidance of teachers who are skilled in their profession.
