The yeast factory was built at Pikk 58 in 1883, originally for the production of yeast, then used as a water mill and later as a dispensary. The building became affectionately known as Pärmikas when the Tartu Culture Factory was established there, which operated from 2008 to 2010 and became an important hub of Tartu’s alternative culture.
Stencibility will organise one more cultural event in the building before the entire Pärmika quarter is redeveloped.
The exhibition is the main event of the 15th Stencibility Festival and is part of the main programme of Tartu 2024.
