Ieva Iltnere’s latest exhibition “Embroidered Selfie” confirms the painter’s ever-changing nature and passion for experimentation. Combining the seemingly incompatible, Ieva Iltnere documents the era through subtle irony, social commentary and paradox, while revealing stories about her own artwork and personality. Ieva Iltnere (1957) graduated from the Department of Monumental Painting of the Latvian Academy of Arts, Eduards Kalniņš Workshop (1982). Since 1980, she has organized 25 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 90 important group exhibitions in Latvia and abroad.
Ieva Iltnere’s paintings are in public collections – Latvian National Museum of Art (Riga, Latvia), Latvian Artists’ Union Museum (Riga, Latvia), Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art (Riga, Latvia), Ludwig Museum (Aachen, Germany), European Central Bank Art collection (Frankfurt, Germany), Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers University (New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA), State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow, Russia).
In 2017, Ieva Iltnere was awarded the Order of the Three Stars.
