The exhibition Genesis opens on March 12 at 19:00, marking the tenth anniversary of Victoria Olt’s career as a professional artist. The retrospective brings together works from across this period, offering viewers insight into the artist’s development and the central themes that have shaped her work.
The title Genesis refers to origin and formation. For the artist, the passing of ten years does not mark a destination, but rather the start of a new phase.
“Reaching ten years as a professional artist has inevitably made me reflect on the journey so far. When I searched for a name for this period, I couldn’t escape the feeling that I am only just getting started, which is why I chose the title Genesis. In Greek, the word means ‘origin’. When I was younger, I imagined that after ten years I would feel fully formed, but standing here now I realise that I am still at the very early stages of the journey,” the artist says.
The exhibition offers an overview of Victoria Olt’s artistic journey and the themes that have accompanied her work, including questions of identity, faith, and meaning, as well as mythology and the relationship between humans, nature, and the self. This mid-career retrospective allows viewers to follow both the stylistic development of the artist and the continuity of the ideas running through her work.
