With the last factory that manufactured Masonite in Sweden closed in 2011, the Masonite disk became history and a cultural heritage. The exhibition can be seen as a form of industrial memory research through design, where also the physical material, the furniture and the experiences from the then ongoing production form part of the investigation to communicate stories about manufacturing techniques, places, people and cultural heritage.
This documentation in combination with the artistic design work has during the work developed into so-called production short stories – that is, short reflective memory stories to portray ongoing production.
