This exhibition features Riso Chan’s works, where portraits are intertwined with flowers, which the artist describes as painted for the dreams of the future and the scars of the past. The artworks function as a visual diary of Riso Chan’s emotions, where she explores colors, playfulness, and portraiture.
“I invite you to step into my imagination, a space where celebrating being a bit strange is welcome,” the artist introduces the upcoming exhibition. Riso works with watercolors and Procreate, allowing her to work digitally while maintaining the feel of traditional craftsmanship in her artworks.
Angela Maria Sierra, known by her artist name Riso Chan, is an artist and creative educator based in Zwolle. She grew up in an artistic environment, inspired by her mother, a sculptor, to explore her creativity from an early age. Riso believes that portraits can be a very powerful way to express emotions and human life, functioning as a language of their own without using words. Therefore, her works mainly revolve around portraiture.
This is her first solo exhibition at the Victoria Olt Gallery and in Estonia. The artist’s works have previously been featured in a group exhibition dedicated to the art collection of the Victoria Olt Gallery.
The exhibition is open at the Victoria Olt Gallery (Viru 20, Tallinn) until June 30, from Monday to Sunday, 11 AM to 7 PM. Admission is free.
