“I don’t know how I feel about time, so I can only paint it,” explains Eliis about the creation of her works. This honest reflection is mirrored in her art, where she tries to capture the complexity and uncertainty of time. The artist raises questions such as: is time circular or flowing? The answer lies in her dreamlike paintings with vivid colors and amorphous figures melting into the canvas.
“Coming from a film background, movement, rhythm, and time have always fascinated me. In this series of paintings, I try to convey those same attributes,” says the artist. This is Eliis’ second solo exhibition at the Victoria Olt Gallery.
Eliis studied film at the London College of Communication and digital effects at the National Film and Television School in London. After returning to Estonia, she has focused more on painting. Her style centers on movement and vivid colors, using rough brushstrokes and blending and merging figures into otherworldly characters.
The exhibition is open at the Victoria Olt Gallery (Viru 20, Tallinn) until June 30, from Monday to Sunday, 11 AM to 7 PM. Free entry.
